3. MANDATORY GEAR REQUIREMENTS.

All runners have a responsibility to show up prepared for the unexpected on race day. Review all Mandatory Items that must be carried during all GreenRace Events.

  • Each TGR event has specific mandatory gear requirements. Check the event landing page ‘Mandatory Gear’ section of the race you are registered for.
  • Runners found to have not adequately prepared for the event will be disqualified (Eg, missing mandatory items etc).

4. SAFETY FIRST.

Do not risk your own safety or the safety of your trail running compadres by not adhering to Mandatory Items or by signing up to an event you have not properly trained for. Runners must stop to assist any injured participants:

  2. Ask the runner their name.
  3. Take note of their bib number.
  4. Check once more that they are ok.
  5. Report their name and bib number to the nearest CP, volunteer or by email to E@TGR.RUN.

11. COMMON COURTESY.

Yield to all hikers and trail walkers where safe to do so. Please show respect and courtesy to all users of our country park trails. Trail runners are not the only ones out there enjoying our country parks!

12. DISPUTES.

The Race Director has final decision in all disputes. Argumentative or aggressive runners will not be tolerated at GreenRace Events.

13. EXTERNAL SUPPORT NOT PERMITTED.

Outside of checkpoints / water stations, every individual participant and registered team must run self supported. Pace runners are not allowed. Runners are permitted to purchase food and beverages at shops along the course route.

14. KEEP RIGHT.

Keep to the right on trails wherever safe to do so. Allow faster runners to pass on the left. Don’t put yourself in the way of faster trail traffic and needlessly contribute to trail running collisions/mishaps. Runners passing will warn by stating “On your left!”

15. LITTERING NOT PERMITTED.

Needless to say, take it with you! Runners found to have littered along the trail, whether intentional or not, will be disqualified.

Routes are +/- 10% of the advertised distance, subject to AFCD approval and may be updated prior to the event. The race director reserves the right to amend course as per AFCD requirements. Runners will be notified of final approved routes via pre-race email no less than 10 days prior to race day.

18. SHORT CUTTING THE COURSE NOT PERMITTED.

Needless to say, runners found to be cutting the racecourse will be disqualified.

19. STARTING & CUT-OFF TIMES.

Late runners will be allowed to start up to 15 minutes after official starting times. Runners showing up later than this will be marked as DNS (Did Not Start). Cut-off times are generous for all GreenRace events allowing for up to 16 min/km average pace. For safety reasons and due to the fact our events are still in fact RACES, we must enforce posted cut-off times for each event. Runners not completing within the allotted cut-off times will be automatically marked as DNF (Did Not Finish) in the official race results. It is the runner’s responsibility make their way back to the Start/Finish for bag collection if they DNF (runners must also carry a cell phone + Octopus Card + Cash + Spare phone charger/battery). Review Starting & Cut-off times here.

20. STAY ON THE TRAIL.

The more we divert to the edge of our trails the more destruction we all cause to fragile mountain ecosystems. Think twice next time you’re running a high mountain trail that’s as wide as a road. It happens faster than you think! At current rates, what will the trail conditions be 10-20 years when future generations head out to enjoy our country parks? Don’t like concrete? Stay on the trail!

21. TEAMS.

Teams: Male, Female and Mixed teams are available wherever ‘team’ is listed.

  • All teams must start together, scan in at each checkpoint together, and cross the finish line together.
  • Solo runners registering under team categories will be automatically disqualified.

22. TREKKING POLES.

NO POLES PERMITTED AT OUR SHORT COURSE EVENTS! Thousands of hikers and runners enjoy our country park trails annually and we all love getting out, getting fit and enjoying nature! Soil is a finite resource on our trails. The more we disturb the soil on our trails, the more we contribute to erosion (especially when typhoon season comes around). This forces the ‘concretisation’ of some of our favourite hiking and running routes. For safety and for conservation reasons, we do not permit the use of hiking poles at our short course events.

23. BEST SPORTSMANSHIP.

Please be reminded to exercise good sportsmanship at all times and never leave a runner down!
